Update Progress

Hey!

Now, this isn't really anything special, just something for me to take a break from backstory writing and just to talk about some things.

I just finished a backstory for one of my OC's brother! I believe it's pretty good and I enjoy it. It's a lot different than the main OC but it's interesting enough in which I can play him and talk about him for a while.

The Main OC has 3 friends that also need flushing out. They do have a general personality and backstory but I still need to keep going.

I really like the 5 characters I'm writing right now and may post some dialogue between them here. Also, I'm working on drawing all of them. So far I have 4 drawn, 1 had a half body and the other has a full body. Again, I'll post this all on here once they're finished.

Thanks for reading!

MIni Rant

This is just a rant about this one roleplay I'm in. So just like... eh.

So, I'm in this Danganronpa roleplay. It has some interesting characters... and annoying characters. To start this off, there are some canon characters and ocs. I'll start off with the OC first.

The OC.

The OC is named Sora Yamaguchi. The Ultimate Inventor. (Not mine)

The first thing that ticked me off was... the skill. Now, Miu can't even make an invention in a few seconds. You can't do something amazing in seconds. Imagine Da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa in seconds. No. That doesn't work like that.

Please. Stop. With. This. Over. Powered. OCs.

Now, everyone knows the talk about Mary Sues. Mary Sues don't have to be all rainbow, princess, Neko, demon, angel, whatever species you want. Add dragon if you want honestly that's not what happens. It's subtle. You don't see it from the appearance or first. It's the way they behave mostly.

Another point I want to mention. This has nothing to do with how great the character is but please. For the love of GOD. Use (parenthesis) whenever its OOC talking. Or anything in the beginning that signals it's not your character doing it. People do ((this, this, or anything that is not regular words. That's for either actions (depending on your style) and talking in general? Please. Don't.

They may have just forgotten the " but... how? You normally forget it at the end of the statement but both? That just feels like you're lazy.

The third thing I wanted to talk about was the way they neglected everything that was targeted towards them. When someone tried to counter their actions they were like "Nope they already did that." Now, this isn't fun. Let your character be stopped. No character is immune to this. Unless it's a really buff and strong character, physical counters will work. Most of the time. Just accept it. And people who try to counter it will also accept it if you have a reason to dodge. If your character is fit (which they never clarified) then it's fine! They can yeet out of there. But at least indicate that they know what they're doing. Before they go do things that they really shouldn't. People don't like that. Stop.

Okay that's the end of it. Just wanted to blow some steam out cus this person is really annoying me. If that's you, I'm sorry, but fix your character.

Thanks for reading!

Roleplaying

Now, as I said in my introduction post, I roleplay.

Roleplaying is actually really fun! It lets me improve my writing, think of things on the spot, and also it give me a goal in my art. Drawing OCs helps me to improve my art, especially if I want them to look good. I also can express my ideas and I can view other personalities and how people think.

Roleplaying is taking your mind into the story and your character. I personally believe that roleplaying as your own character would help others improve writing, characters, and their experience. Making your own character is very hard, though I do have a lot I mass produced.

  • You have to create the design
  • You have to create the name/backstory/personality (This takes a long time.)
  • You have to make the character likable
Now, making a character likable is hard. I get lucky in some, usually because I take inspiration from other characters. It's very hard to create a 100% original character and not take inspiration off of others. I doubt anyone has done that. Characters need inspiration, so you need to find an idea and stick with it.

(haha I'm going off the main point)

Anyways, having a character gives you an understanding of people. Now, it may seem weird, especially if you have a character that's not normal like Kokichi Ouma. But but but! Those characters have a part that is like your average person. Relatable characters work well, especially if it's for beginners.

(I'm not a professional :')))

Characters that are a bit off from your normal, everyday person takes more skill. I wouldn't suggest someone making a character like this if you're starting off roleplaying and/or making characters. The characters that would fall into this category would be...
  • Violent characters
  • Insane characters
  • Detective-like characters
Now, I'm not saying that people can't start off with a detective-like character, but I wouldn't recommend it. It takes a lot of skills to play it. If you are good at it, go ahead!

(haha I need to make a conclusion to this I can't keep writing this forever)

This is turning more into a tips list but eh.

I'm going to leave it at that. I'll write more some day. Thanks for reading!

New Blog!

I used to have a really... bad blog before. I was really childish in that one, so I'll be hopefully posting things here!

Basic Information

Hey, I'm CookieCaffine! A student and a roleplayer. I honestly don't have much that is interesting about me but enjoy reading things here!

I also do art. I like to make sprites (for mainly my female characters) but I'm working on a set for my guys! I might post a list of my characters and it'll grow.

I'm honestly just typing as I think so hopefully this is good!
